Fall 2025 Farm Update

Autumn brought a season of progress and transition at Shepherd’s Hill Ranch. As cooler weather arrived, several long-anticipated projects came together and the farm continued to grow.

What’s Happening on the Farm

One of the most meaningful milestones this fall was completing the farmhouse. After many months of work, the house was finished in mid-October and we quickly began settling into our new home overlooking the orchard and pond.

The flock also grew in September with the addition of ten Ewes, along with two Livestock Guardian Dogs who now help watch over the sheep. Their presence quickly became part of the daily rhythm of the farm as the animals adjusted to their new surroundings.

Several important infrastructure projects were completed throughout the fall as well. Perimeter fencing around the property was finished by the end of October, helping strengthen the farm’s rotational grazing system and better define pasture areas for the livestock.

In early November, repairs were made to sections of the farm’s waterline to ensure reliable water access moving into the winter months. Work like this often happens quietly behind the scenes, but it plays an important role in keeping the farm running smoothly.

As the season continued, new sheep shelters were built toward the end of November to provide additional protection for the flock as winter approaches.

Life Around the Farmhouse

Autumn also marked the beginning of life in the newly completed farmhouse. After moving in, we quickly began settling into the space and establishing new routines.

November brought the first sourdough bakes in the farmhouse kitchen, a simple but memorable milestone in the new home. Moments like these have made the transition especially meaningful as daily life on the farm continues to take shape.

The fall season included a few family celebrations, from birthdays to Thanksgiving, the time shared together during the early days of settling into the new house are some we will hold dearly.

Looking Ahead

As fall gives way to winter, preparations begin for the colder months ahead. The coming season will most certainly bring cold weather which changes the rhythm of how we care for the livestock. It also brings the magic of Christmas, which we are looking forward to celebrating in the new farmhouse.

With the farmhouse complete and several major projects finished across the property, the farm is ready to move into winter with a strong foundation for the seasons to come.

Thank you for following along with the seasons at Shepherd’s Hill Ranch.
